Boy bitten by shark in Sydney’s east

A boy has suffered serious leg injuries after being bitten by a shark at an eastern suburbs beach on Sydney Harbour.

About 4:20pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Hermitage Foreshore Walk at Nielsen Park in Vaucluse following reports of the boy being attacked.

“The boy, believed to be aged about 12, is being treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and first responders at the scene for serious leg injuries,” police said in a statement.

“The beach has been closed and swimmers are advised to avoid swimming in the water at this time. There is no further information available at this time.”
