The Ken Hou vessel has 22 crew members on board but most have displayed elevated temperatures and reported feeling unwell.

The crew will be tested for Covid-19, with the results expected on Tuesday.

“Pending test results tomorrow, a plan for the management of the vessel will be made with all key stakeholders,” the WA Health Department said in a statement.

Premier Mark McGowan said he wanted the bulk carrier to sail away as soon as possible.

The vessel was supposed to dock in Albany on Saturday.

Health authorities are also monitoring two out of 18 crew on the bulk carrier Poavasa Wisdom, which is in anchorage near Fremantle Port.

Western Australia recorded one new case of coronavirus overnight – an overseas traveller in hotel quarantine.
