NSW Ambulance said paramedics were called to Durbar Ave in Kirrawee just after 3pm on Monday after reports a man’s leg had become caught in a mulcher.
Four crews and a specialist medical team, including a critical care doctor and a critical care paramedic, were sent to the property.
The man, who is believed to be aged in his 20s, was rushed to St George Hospital in a critical condition.
Inspector Dave Stride said the man suffered significant injuries to both legs.
“These were some of the worst leg injuries I have seen in my 42 years as a paramedic,” he said.
“His colleagues and an off-duty police officer who rushed to help him did an incredible job in unimaginable circumstances.
“It’s scary how quickly an incident like this can happen on a worksite. Safety has to be the number one priority.”
